Jewelry Care Guide

At KALA, we want you to cherish your jewelry for a lifetime. Proper care is essential to ensure the longevity of your precious pieces.

Wearing Your Jewelry

We recommend putting on your jewelry after applying makeup, as cosmetics, hairspray, and perfumes may contain chemicals that could compromise the integrity of your jewelry. To preserve its beauty, remove jewelry before bedtime, showering, or engaging in physical activities. Handle your jewelry with care to prevent damage, especially when putting it on or taking it off.

Storing Your Jewelry

Store your jewelry in cool, dry areas, away from moisture and natural light, preferably in a protective jewelry box. Avoid storing jewelry in the bathroom. For metal jewelry, proper storage prevents oxidation, minimizes scratching, and keeps pieces from moving around. Alternatively, consider using a plastic zip-lock bag made of polyethylene. Never use rubber containers or polyvinyl plastic bags, as sulfur compounds in these materials can accelerate tarnishing, especially in sterling silver.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

Sterling Silver may naturally tarnish over time, while Gold may tarnish at a slower rate. To clean, gently wipe with a jewelry polishing cloth or use a soft toothbrush with mild soap and water. Exercise caution with chlorine, particularly at high temperatures, as it can permanently damage or discolor silver jewelry. Tarnishing is accelerated in humid environments. Avoid cleaning damaged, cracked, or broken jewelry, as additional handling may worsen the problem. If you discover damage, set the piece aside for prompt repair.

We hope these care tips help you maintain the beauty and quality of your KALA jewelry for years to come. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing KALA!
